Large numbers of patients recovering from COVID-19 are developing a new syndrome known as long COVID.

Prolonged COVID is the set of signs and symptoms that persist after an initial or acute infection caused by the SARS COV-2 virus. These symptoms can even interfere with the daily activities of those who suffer from it.

Among the set of symptoms described by various studies in symptomatic patients who were hospitalised, mainly fatigue and muscle weakness, shortness of breath, chest pain, palpitations, unstable blood pressure, problems in attention, concentration and memory are described. The trend appears to show that of all conditions these appeared 1 to 2 months after having overcome  the initial acute illness by SARS COV-2.

Whilst psychiatric complications and the risk of developing thromboembolism have also been described.
